I grew up on a farm just east of Burt. I started out going to Bancroft St. John's until the school closed down. I graduated in 1993 from Sentral High School. I went two years at Iowa Lakes Community School and then transfered to Mankato State University. I graduated in 1997 from Mankato and started teaching at Sentral that year. I taught eleven years at Sentral and then moved to North Kossuth.
I have three adopted children: Jay, Becca, and Max. My wife is Jill Heinen who also went to Sentral school. We have lived in the area since we were married. We now live in Lone Rock.
